The three good fairies....
Three stellar wishes...
What is so fantastic is that they made the best of their situation...
Flora and Fauna had bestowed their wishes on baby Aurora before Maleficent appeared casting her dark spell over the baby.
Quick thinking Merryweather was able to contribute light to dark times. .
Flora (red) grants her the gift of beauty, while Fauna (green) grants her the gift of song. But before Merryweather (blue) can give her gift, Maleficent appears. Insulted by not being included in the celebration, Maleficent curses the infant to die, from pricking her finger on a spinning wheel spindle before the sun sets on the princess' 16th birthday.
As Maleficent leaves, the fairies realize that Merryweather still hasn't given her gift.
Though, Merryweather cannot reverse the curse, she does weaken it, so that Aurora will only fall asleep until awaken by True Love's Kiss.

Wondering although Maleficent has not been a friend to anyone- would things have been different if she had of been invited to the party?
Its easy to be kind to those you already like......just like its easy to share a loaf of bread if you have already eaten...like when you dont want to and share while you are hungry.  Magic doesn't make the world a loving place...caring does.
And as the story unfolds... the best thing tht the fairies could do to help Aurora was to put their magic away...

Little known facts - In Perrault's version there are 7 good fairies plus the one bad one. They don't have names.
There is an adaptation for the stage in which there are twelve fairies. Their names are Caper, Chicory, Caraway, Clove, Cinnamon, Ginger, Sesame, Saffron, Poppy, Pumpkin, Paprika, and Nutmeg.
