So many stories, so many truths.
Each story has characters who achieve great things, who's lives are touched by grace. No story is without hardship and heart break.

 All have choices to make.

Times to be strong,
 times to be giving,
 times to be FORgiving.

Each a path of their own, strengths, companions, sabatoirs, a chance to play victim and a chance to play warrior. True love and truth always prevail.
I really think our stories unfold in quite the same ways.  We sometimes forget exactly all we are capable of and all the magic we have to call apon.

What do I love about today..... remembering the feeling of love....

Ariel plucks petals from the under ocean bloom...he loves me... he loves me not...he loves me..finally the last petal falls and she falls backwards in complete happiness (and could it be relief?).. ahh he loves me. Excitedly she exclaims HE LOVES ME!
Such happiness and joy brought to her by her own thoughts, after all there is not indication from Prince Eric, he doesn't know she even exists just yet.  But she loves him and the idea of being in love.
It is her fascination and feeling of warm goey love that keeps her playng these games. They bring her closer to him in her thoughts and one wonders if the flower had of ended in a no responce would she pick another flower and just try again?
Whatever the case, Ariel is in her own world, she is in love and happy. It is the power of belief in true love and her wish for it to be so that keep her happy.

While the girls swoon over Gaston, he only has eyes for Belle. Hanging in the local bar he boasts... and boasts and boasts all he ever mentions are things that can be measured materially, things that can be observed as 'the best'.

From the outset we can all see that he is not the man fit for her.
As Belle rejects Gaston's advances and marriage proposal, (even after all he even states he sees her 'as the little woman at home caring for their strapping sons') The village judge her, questioning 'What is wrong with her? ... they see him as a handsome fellow, a hunter, leader and someone with lots of friends, someone with lots of admirers. A catch.
She  leaves this thug to the mindless village girls for as she puts it in conversation to her father...'he is conceited, rude and ohh papa, he's not for me!'

Belle is intelligent and loving, brave and caring as as her story unfolds it is the Beast who is her perfect match. For as we discover he is not the beast as it turns out, he is a prince. A prince who sees the princess in her.

It's lucky for Belle that she refuses to settle for less than her hearts desire. She is courageous in believing that there is someone who will love and understand her, someone deserving of her precious virtues. Someone who can appreciate them.
Gaston cannot see these things, for he has no concept of what they are.
From the point of self fullfilment Belle made the right choice, Gaston advises her 'it is not good for girls to read...they start getting ideas,..
The beast - gifts her with a library. I think that is quite symbolic.

What does a perfect world begin and end with.....?

Emperor Kuzco demonstrates himself as a self centred, self absorbed individual.  No thought for anyone else, no ability to see through others eyes and definitely no interest in sharing.
Pasha, brought up to believe that there is some good in everyone. Against his best interests is patient and loving enough to give Kuzco the gifts he has pushed away and rejected at all opportunities.
Kuzco walks a tough path to learn his lesson of friendship, respect and of what really matters.  It is only when he discovers the richness that comes with doing good, being kind, loving and helpful that he truly able to experience happiness and value the riches around him.
One of the funniest animations and the  underhanded comments made by Kuzco really make his character amusing.  Such a temptation to imitate as he is at times so dry and down right rude it is unbelievable, yet still appealing. We all have our lessons and wherever we are on the journey, we are still lovable.

Lyrics....taken from the perfect world of Kuzco...

He has the sovereign lord of the nation
He has the hippest cat in creation
He has the alpha, the omega, a to z
And this perfect world will spin
Around his every little whim
´Cos this perfect world begins & ends with...

What´s his name?
Kuzco, Kuzco, Kuzco
Kuzco (That is his name)
Kuzco, Kuzco (Is he hip or what)
kuzco (Don´t you know he has the king of the world?)
Kuzco-(oh ya)-oooo (ow!)
Kuzco's world revolves around him...his id is certainly in need of ego!

Aristocats
I do admire Roquefort, the mouse friend of the Duchess' precious kittens.

When his 'family' are in trouble he is brave enough to do all he can to help, even walking in to a the swinging cats club house. Nervously making himself known, seeking and finding help for the helpless. True friends are such fabulous things to have.  Roquefort acts as a friend because Duchess and the kittens befriend him. Just as in Aesop's fables, the mouse the lion lets go, is the mouse that saves him in his hour of need.  Practise humility, it is not just a test of character, it is part of fulfilling your journey.

Interestingly Cinderella never knew she had a fairy godmother!
She didn't recognise her when she saw her, nor did she realise what her fairy godmother was capable of producing for her at her time of need.

Just thinking that maybe that's exactly how a fairy godmother is supposed to work, for how else do we explain all the times someone pops up out of nowhere to be of service when you have little other options available.
I wonder if we will inadvertently be someones fairy Godmother... in disguise as ourselves.

Pocahontas teaches John Smith about the world around him.
She lowers his gun barrel as he points it to a bear, a bear protecting her baby cubs.

Pocahontas informs him of much he is yet to learn, things you cannot be taught, things you need to feel.  These ideas made no sense until learning and sharing take place helping him notice what he
has never seen before.

.....she eloquently puts it

'You think the only people who are people
Are the people who look and think like you
But if you walk the footsteps of a stranger
You'll learn things you never knew you never knew!'

Today I am both surprised and unsurprised as I watch a link of a teenage girl with autism who begins to communicate through typing.  She is articulate and so telling of her life inside her world. For me it is just another example of if you walk the footsteps of a stranger, you'll learn things you never knew you never knew.

Rapunzel's steps out into the world. Every woman I know relates to the roller coaster ride of absolute wonder and excitement, of empowerment and self confidence and efficacy to depths of despair and uncertainty.  That freedom and excitment of choice and opportunity versus the awful guilt and concern and overcompensation for the effects of our choices on others.
In Rupunzel's case her mother selfishly put her own needs before her daughters to keep her at home, to keep her marvellous magical gifts all for herself. She brought her up with the that idea that the world is an unsafe place, that she was incapable of coping. No wonder she felt insecure at times. No wonder she felt people were only out to steal, cheat and take advantage of her.
Interestingly things could have been so different if her mother had of been lovingly supportive, her daughter would have not only enjoyed her mother's company and continued to gift her with love but also brought in more joy through her own fulfilment.
Im going to remember this story, particuarly when I have that lack of belief in my choices and those hold back thoughts! After all they are just thoughts!

Sometimes the magic moment you've been waiting for all your life - is even more amazing than you could have anticipated.... and for reasons you couldn't have imagined.
Rapunzel dreamt of seeing the lantern festival, and it was awesomely breath taking. On top of that she fell in love with Flynn and at that moment opened her heart to loving and trusting him. Who would have known the lantern festival would have held so many miracles?
Although she wanted to go... since forever - the time she actually found herself enjoying that experience - held the perfect moments.
Timing, its amazingly perfect!

Anastasia

Reflecting on the distant memories in her heart Anya follows her unfolding destiny.

Step by step at a cross roads, unsure of which path to take she asks for a sign.
\Bravely she accepts the form it is shown to her in and begins her journey to her past and future.
I love her song she sings
'heart don't fail me now!'
so telling that just because it seems to be the way, doesn't ensure it will be an easy step.  Sometimes it is.  Sometimes it is a mini battle to be courageous enough to pursue.
I'm thinking better to pursue and ask for courage than to take a path that may be an easy choice, that will always leave you wondering what could have been.
A tip that I was given once was that fear and excitement nearly feel the same, so when it feels like fear just take a second to notice... is this fear or is this actually excitement from deep inside at being who I know I can be?

Ratatouille
I know its been said... but I don't know by whom...
'If you can dream it .. you can do it!'

Against whats acceptable, usual and just down right possible Remy fulfilled his burning desire to be a chef.  The creative genius he always was brought love, hope and learning to all around him through his persistence to follow his heart and soul.
The right path you take benefits and serves many, many, many
so don't be shy, don't be timid
be brave,
step forwards be it
Even challenge the truly 'against all odds' and ludicrous if that's what calls
because it is not just for you, we need for you to do it for us all!

Princess
what does a princess have to learn....
is their path an easy road of riches, spoils and choices?
Not usually, all the princess above have much to learn, explore and be courageous in playing out.
Being patient, loving, trust worthy, seeing past outer exteriors and bad behaviours are some of their challenges.... I see these things as virtues.
I see the beauty they radiate as a light from within as they are not burdened with hatred, envy or revenge.
I see peace and acceptance for others and a selfless ability to love.
I see role models.
Brother Bear.
I love this story.
When presented with a love bear as his totem very dissappointed Kenai feels that it is not foretelling of the path he imagined he would experience. Wishing for greater things not realising that what cards you are dealt give ample opportunity to be all wish and more.
Kenai's path unfold and as the story says- he became a man, by becoming a bear.
I love this story as like tinkerbell did, we sometimes look down on our talents seeing others as more valuable, interesting or boastable.
Truth being whether you are blessed with courage, love, patience or wisdom you are perfectly suited to the path you venture down and perfectly suited to be a participant in the learning and sharing of that virture.
Embrace it. Love it.

Love... love... love....

It happened for all the princesses but in very different ways, they had their own journeys, as did their princes. Sleeping under a spell till her prince cut through bramble and thorns Aurora had to wait till her prince found his sword of truth. Belle had to help her prince see the world through different eyes. Jasmine was in love with her whole new world with prince Ali but Aladdin had to love and accept himself for who he was until he was ready for a loving life together.
It seems patience is part of the love recipe, and truly it must be as like the song says 'you can't hurry love' it happens when it happens. Like a kaleidoscope things fall into place and make a pretty picture when the time is right.

Zazu...
The kings trusted adviser...
The diplomatic horn bill who takes his job seriously.
Mufasa's ally who does all he does in the most respectful of ways.  Respectful of his king, respectful of his place in the managerial hierarchy and best of all self - respecting.
Even when things turn dark and Scar turns the kingdom upside down with his disregard for the tradition and order of things, stemming from his lack of understanding for the circle of life, Zazu stays true to his leader.  True to his personal truth and belief in all things ordered.  Proving that not all just goes with the flow, not all will do what is best just for them.
Zazu is a role model of maintaining dignity whatever the personal cost. A recipe for staying whole and for riding the tides of turmoil.

 The villans....
despicable, nasty, greedy, rude, mean, troublesome and down right trouble the villans bring the stories full circle.  They too have their path, their pasts and their future choices. It is their challenges that give our princesses and hero's the chance to shine. Without the tunnel to walk through our favourites would be void of their chance to shine and been the light that they are.
Love who you are.... and love who your not!

When things look bleak Pocahontas suggested to John Smith 'maybe it would be better if we never met at all...'
Immediately John Smith replies 'Don't say that..". he is so in love with her that he would rather live a short time knowing her, than a thousand years and not have known her.
The ending credits have a beautiful love song

If I never knew you...
If never knew you
If i never felt this love
I would have no inkling of
How precious life can be

And if I never held you
I would never have a clue
How at last I'd find in you
The missing part of me.

In this world so full of fear
Full of rage and lies
I can see the truth so clear
In your eyes
So dry your eyes

And I'm so grateful to you
I'd hve lived my whole life through
Lost forever
If I never knew you

If I never knew you
I'd be safe but half as real
Never knowing I could feel
A love so strong and true

I'm so grateful to you
I'd have lived my whole life through
Lost forever
If I never knew you

I thought our love would be so beautiful
Somehow we'd make the whole world bright
I never knew that fear and hate could be so strong
all they'd leave us were these wispers in the night
But still my heart is saying we were right

Oh if I never knew you
There's no moment I regret
If i never felt this love
Since the moment that we met
I would have no inkling of
If our time has gone too fast
How precious life can be...
I've lived at last...

The truth is .... whatever they think about what would have been better...the past is the past and cannot be changed either way, so being positive about it seems the best course.

"To be safe we loose our chance of ever knowing...."

What's around the riverbend? Tell me what's beyond the river bend? Pocahontas questions her path, her future, her dreams, hopes and wantings.

She paddles the stream, a rhythmic meditation... choices and expectations weigh against each other.
Coming to a fork in the river it seems choosing a path will lead her in one direction or another. Should she marry Kocum.... 'a safe and sturdy husband who'll build safe and sturdy walls' or as she asks"do you still wait for me dream giver?"

Pocahontas can't be sure of what waits around the river bend.  It seems she isn't sure of what it is she wants to be around the river bend. Although part of her maybe senses something is coming, her attempts to interpret her dreams have left her with further questions as in retrospect she couldn't have imagine what was coming as she didn't know it existed. (tall ships)
Considering her father's hopes for her to be a leader among her people, her peer presure as her friend voices her desires for a brave warrior husband like Kocum, her social responsibility in being someone to look up to as the chief's daughter Pocahontas is brave in allowing her path to unfold.

Following her heart down dangerous paths and finally becoming someone who achieves by speaking against all with wisdom and love places her as the role model she desired to be for all she considered worthy.
When I think of an advocate for love, for people and for bravery I think of Pocahontas.

Sully
Known as the moster of monsters for scaring children to create the most intense screams as energy to power their world, Sully is an impressive fur ball.
It is wonderous that he discovers  positive energy like, for example a child laughing holds much more energy and is of a higher vibration than that of fear.
Thats precisly why we need to laugh everyday, smile insted of frown, be gentle and kind and loving in all we do. The power and vibration it calibrates is indeed our life force.  Be it...share it...absorb it!

Good night my handsome prince

Good Night my Handsome Prince

Initially Aladdin arrives to see Jasmine believing she sees him as the prince he is parading around as, truth be told she sees exactly who he is. She quickly sees him as the boy from the market place she found so captivating.
Enchanted by their magic carpet ride when Aladdin shows her a whole new world.
Jasmine falls in love and wishes him good night saying
"Goodnight my handsome Prince"

Filled with passion and the heady excitement of finally finding her suitor she wanders back into the palace confident of the love she feels and trusting Aladdin to be true to her. Although together they face hurdles and obstacles she continues to believe in him even as the truth of his past is revealled for all to see.
I can't help but wonder how safe it is to be so loving and trusting, though to hold back is not the answer either.
I guess it is testament of Jasmines true character as she bravely and whole heartedly opens herself up to love.
