"To be safe we loose our chance of ever knowing...."

What's around the riverbend? Tell me what's beyond the river bend? Pocahontas questions her path, her future, her dreams, hopes and wantings.

She paddles the stream, a rhythmic meditation... choices and expectations weigh against each other.
Coming to a fork in the river it seems choosing a path will lead her in one direction or another. Should she marry Kocum.... 'a safe and sturdy husband who'll build safe and sturdy walls' or as she asks"do you still wait for me dream giver?"

Pocahontas can't be sure of what waits around the river bend.  It seems she isn't sure of what it is she wants to be around the river bend. Although part of her maybe senses something is coming, her attempts to interpret her dreams have left her with further questions as in retrospect she couldn't have imagine what was coming as she didn't know it existed. (tall ships)
Considering her father's hopes for her to be a leader among her people, her peer presure as her friend voices her desires for a brave warrior husband like Kocum, her social responsibility in being someone to look up to as the chief's daughter Pocahontas is brave in allowing her path to unfold.

Following her heart down dangerous paths and finally becoming someone who achieves by speaking against all with wisdom and love places her as the role model she desired to be for all she considered worthy.
When I think of an advocate for love, for people and for bravery I think of Pocahontas.
